Over 8 years of experience in intensive research in social development, human rights, child rights and child protection. Project consultant at the Social Policy Analysis and Research Centre (SPARC), University of Colombo. Previously worked as the senior researcher at the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka, the research and documentation officer at the National Forum of Peoples' Organisations and as the child protection/ sponsor relations coordinator for Hambantota a the Child Fund in Sri Lanka. Extensive experience in conducting high quality action oriented research focused on child protection, human trafficking, globalisation & development; indigenous cultures, rural & urban community development, social determinants of health, sustainable energy and multidisciplinary project initiatives. Holds Bachelor of Science(B.Sc) Degree from Deakin University Australia and is reading for the Masters in Development Studies at the University of the Colombo.

Attorney at Law by profession. Over 10 years experience in intensive research in law and human rights. Head of Law School at the South Asia College of Higher Education (SACHE) and a student Counsellor at the Interstate Education Consultants. Lecturer in law involving teaching Common Law Reasoning and Criminal Law in the LLB external Program of the University of London. Previously worked as a Legal/Research Officer at the Lawyers for Human Rights and Development and as an associate at the ‘VARNERS’ law firm. Extensive experience in engaging in high quality legal, socio-economic research projects focused on law reform; multidisciplinary in project planning, training in human rights and democratisation, drafting legal documents, engaging in human rights education and advocacy, applying alternative dispute resolution, monitoring human rights institutions and counselling in need. Worked as a Research Assistant in several PhD research works. As a legal practitioner obtained both civil, criminal and commercial law knowledge by working with leading legal counsels, law firms and banks and other agencies. Member of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Sri Lanka.
